{ TEACHING }
"I believe arts education in music, theatre, dance, and the visual arts is one of the most creative ways we have to find the gold that is buried just beneath the surface. They (children) have an enthusiasm for life, a spark of creativity, and vivid imaginations that need training - training that prepares them to become confident young men and women" - Richard Riley, Former US Secretary of Education
Drama Curriculum Infusion
Jackie has taught curriculum through theatre in over 100 different workshops for grades K-12 with theatre and literacy organizations such as StageWrite, The Rose Theater and SFArts.
Jackie was a teacher with the Drama Curriculum Infusion Project with The Rose Theater who partnered with Washington Elementary School to provide each grade level with a teaching artist who collaborates with teachers, for the entire school year, in order to teach curriculum topics through drama.
Jackie also taught with the Every Single Child Program at The Rose Theater. This program provides a workshop from The Rose Theater for each grade level to almost every public school in Omaha. Workshops use drama activities to explore topics such as reading, literacy, the Civil War, the American Revolution, Native American folk tales, multicultural folktales, the Holocaust and a variety of other topics.

Below is a lesson plan Jackie created and taught that uses drama activities to explore ideas of cause and effect and the story of Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People's Ears. Jackie created nine different lesson plans for the second grade teachers, using drama to teach curriculum.
